Archived Announcements 9:2:19Welcome to the 2019-20 school year! We are thrilled to introduce our new communication platform — The Jump App. The app will streamline activities, make it easy to find answers to questions and help the ONW band family stay connected. We will discuss this exciting communication tool at Meet the Band Night but want to give you the chance to download it before the meeting!
We’ve created specific Olathe Northwest Jumps, please follow the link that makes the most sense for you:
The Raven Pride Marching Band is coming off their most successful season in school history. Members of the Marching Band can join this Jump to stay in the loop. https://plm4.app.link/urxTo1FzPY
Members of the ONW Concert Band will want to join this Jump to keep up with home concerts, music festivals and other extracurricular concert band events. https://plm4.app.link/j7vvAADzPY
The four-time National Championship winning Raven Dance Team doubles as a color guard to perform at halftime with the band. Dance Team members can sync up here. https://plm4.app.link/FQbFdnHzPY
As the school year goes on, we will add on basketball, jazz band, and any other jumps that may be useful!
Or you can learn more by visiting https://thejump.com/ravenbands/
It’s time for performances to begin! Concert band and jazz students are off to a TERRIFIC start, and we will look forward to hearing the great music you will share at your first concert in October. Our marchers get started this week! Looking forward to it, hope you are as well. I want to thank Mrs. Siegrist our volunteer coordinator and the many parents and friends of the band who have already signed up to help us out. Our first two events are listed below. Join us as you are able to! Thanks in advance for your consideration.
September 6, 2019: Manhattan High School Football Game
September 7, 2019: Old Settler’s Day Parade
1. Please take a moment to update your charms information and turn in the handbook assignment page after review (last page of the document). I have attached a charms information sheet to detail how you can take care of this. You can access the handbook and other important documents by logging into charms and opening the document in the handouts section. Please see me during power 50 time if you need any help.
2. Please also make sure you have turned in your required forms pacet if you haven’t already! We will continue to update Parent/Student Vue as we receive these. Thanks so much!
3. All marching band students must have their lyre and flip folder checked in to Mr. Davis by Sept. 6th at the conclusion of power 50. Full credit will be given to anyone who brings theirs before this time. Thank you for getting this taken care of if you haven’t already.
Marchers, we will perform at the pop assembly this Thursday during seminar. You will be excused from a portion of 6th hour to set up and such. Those who need to catch a bus, you will be dismissed early from the assembly if necessary. Have your backpack and any needed materials in the band room so you don’t miss the bus! No special uniform required for this event.
This will happen during regular rehearsal time, students must wear their black band shirt and khaki shorts. Set a reminder in your agenda, phone, etc… You will miss your second hour and a portion of third this day. I could use a couple of parents help with doughnuts in the ONW commons when we return. Can you help us out between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM? If so, shoot Mr. Davis a reply. Thank you!
The uniform room will open at 4:30 PM. Call time, students are to be dressed and ready in the band room by 5:15 PM.
When reporting to the uniform room, you must wear your black band shirt, tall black socks, and marching shoes. You will be sent away to get them and put at the back of the line if you don’t make this happen.
Please bring your band bag, lyre and flip folder, and any needed equipment for game days. New marchers should get their band bag before this Friday.
If it’s more convenient for you to do so, you are welcome to hang out in the band room and get a jump start on homework between the end of school day and call time. Bring food or money for dinner (subway is located kitty corner to the school and is a popular option!)
Students are to report to and be picked up from ONW. The uniform room will open at 8:00 AM. Call time, students are to be dressed and ready in the band room at 8:30 AM. The parade route and information on all things Old Settler’s can be found on the Johnson County Old Settler’s Website
Olathe Northwest is the second high school ensemble in the parade this year, and our parade entry number is #20. I anticipate we will return to ONW at approx.. 11:30 AM. Encourage your students to reach out when the busses are heading back. I will do the same. Wear your raven gear and cheer loudly when we march by! Go RAVENS!
