Olathe NorthwestRaven Pride Band
Hello Fellow Band Boosters and OMI Volunteers!!
The Olathe Marching Invitational is quickly approaching! Crunch time is upon us, and we desperately need your help to ensure the success of this event. While many volunteer jobs will be needed the actual day of the event – Saturday, October 26, 2019 – our most pressing need currently is PROGRAM AD SALES! A portion of our revenue for this event comes from selling ad space to local businesses. We need several people to volunteer to solicit ads in the next week. We need to have business ads in hand/email NO LATER than Sunday, October 6th, so we have ample time to print programs. We truly need volunteers in the next few days/this weekend to give businesses time to send an ad.
We have a list of potential businesses on a Google Docs file, in a link at the end of this message. Businesses are somewhat divided by area. We hope to have our friends from Olathe Northwest visit businesses listed near them, but there are many closer to Olathe East. You can sign up by simply typing your name into the document, next to the businesses you plan to visit. There are spots to enter business contact info and notes about your visit. If you or a loved one have a connection to another Olathe or surrounding area business not listed on the sheet, feel free to add that to the Google Doc or message me. There are various ad sizes and prices offered. Also attached to this message is our OMI CORRECT AD Cover Letter and Flyer. You may make copies of these to leave with businesses and use the cover letter language to talk up the event. Face to face contact with business managers may help sell more ads. You can emphasize that not only are they supporting our community and band programs; their ad will be seen by thousands, including many out-of-town visitors that will be in Olathe for a day or two.
We will send more ways to help seen, but please consider getting out in the community in the next few days to help!

OE Band Boosters
The Raven Pride Marching Band is coming off their most successful season in school history, and we are looking forward to welcoming you to be a part of the largest and most popular class taken at ONW. Students in the marching band perform at home football games, The Old Settler’s Parade, and get to travel to travel to several marching festivals and competitions. When the marching season ends in late October, students enrolled in marching band will play inone of three concert groups.
Band students will have the opportunity to participate in Basketball Pep Band, which performs at select Varsity Girls and Boys home basketball games. The music is fast and loud, and is a lot of fun! The chance to travel to Sub-State and State basketball tournaments as a member of the Pep Band can be a great road trip experience too!
Membership into this group is by audition in the spring. Both ensembles perform advanced high school and some collegiate level literature. These are our most advanced concert groups. The ensemble performs at school concerts and state music festivals. A spring music retreat is an exciting event students look forward to as a member of this ensemble.

Any 9-12 grade students in Marching Band will be enrolled in the Symphonic Band, unless they audition and earn a spot in the Wind Ensemble or Raven Winds. This concert group performs at school concerts and state music festivals, Six Flags festival of music, and enjoys all the extracuricular opportunities the band program has to offer.
Open to all Northwest students. No audition is required as long as the student participated in their 8th grade band class. This class is suggested for students who wish to continue their study in music, but would rather not participate in the marching band. During the school year, the concert band will perform at various venues including four home concerts at ONW, two music festivals in the spring, the Six Flags festival of music, and several other extracurricular events students can volunteer to be a part of (basketball pep band, solo & ensemble festival, collegiate and district honor bands, etc..)
For band students in grades 9-12. In the fall semester, any student can sign up for Jazz Lab (Jazz IV) – no audition required. Membership in Jazz I, II, and III is by audition only (these auditions take place in the Spring for next year). Jazz I is our top group which meets second semester and performs at several competitions throughout the year. All of our jazz bands will perform at several concerts and community events throughout the year. They will also attend at least two to three adjudicated jazz festivals. Students must also be co-enrolled in a full year music class.
